CACS Mathletes compete virtually!
This is the 5th year that CACS has participated in the Mathlete Competitions. CACS students met once a week to expand upon their knowledge base. They were so enthusiastic, that they committed to a 2nd day each week to expand their understanding of concepts and to solve the challenges provided by the organization.
This year all aspects of Mathletes were virtual. Our amazing coach, Itzel Vargas, a senior at Gateway High School, was committed to the students and was a model of consistent and joyful exploration of math. All Mathletes competed in February with hundreds of Bay Area Students. The top participants advanced to the regional level. Our very own 8th grader, Bill Smith, went on to compete with the top Mathletes for advancement to state finals. Bill is the first CACS student to compete at regionals. We are so proud of Bill and his commitment to learning and expanding his understanding of math.
