Promoting Health and Wellness Through Movement

At Creative Arts Charter School, we are committed to promoting student health and wellness through dynamic physical education and sports programs. Our physical education specialist, Damian Canny, leads our efforts to ensure that students from 1st through 8th grade develop a lifelong love for movement.

Curriculum and Schedule

  • Grades 1-5: Students meet with Mr. Canny once a week for sessions designed to engage them in the joy of physical activity through the art of PLAY!
  • Grades 6-8: Older students have the benefit of meeting twice per week, allowing for more intensive development of physical skills and health awareness.

Program Goals and Activities

The physical education curriculum at Creative Arts is built around several core principles:

  • Teamwork and Cooperation: Learning to work together and support each other in physical challenges.
  • Perseverance: Developing resilience and determination through physical activities.
  • Positive Body Image: Encouraging a healthy body image through active participation and personal growth.
  • Skill Building: Enhancing physical skills through diverse and engaging activities.

Our program emphasizes not just physical health but also the development of personal and social skills that are essential for students' overall growth. Damian Canny's approach integrates the principles of play with structured learning to create a fun, inclusive, and educational environment for all students.
