Creative Arts Values & Vision

Our Values: C.A.R.E.S.

At CACS, our values are guided by the C.A.R.E.S. framework:

  • Cooperation: Building positive relationships, resolving conflicts, accepting differences, and working collaboratively within the classroom and school community.
  • Assertiveness: Encouraging initiative, standing up for ideas without harming others, seeking help, and succeeding in challenging tasks.
  • Responsibility: Motivating students to take action, follow through on expectations, define problems, consider consequences, and choose positive solutions.
  • Empathy: Understanding and valuing others' emotions and perspectives, appreciating diversity, and having concern for others' welfare.
  • Self-Control: Regulating thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to be successful in the moment and maintain a positive trajectory.

Our Vision: Portrait of a Graduate

At CACS, we believe in, and are committed to, transformative learning, which is to say, an educational experience conducive to the development and application of strong intellect and character. To outline the intention behind our educational program, we developed the Portrait of a Graduate, a shared educational vision that grounds us in all that we do. While the language we have crafted rings true in the present, it is also aspirational, serving to provide a trellis for our vine and to keep us united in common pursuit toward future outcomes.

Our vision at CACS is embodied in the Portrait of a Graduate, illustrating the qualities we aim to instill in our students:

  • Intellectual Development: CACS graduates appreciate learning as a lifelong pursuit, interpreting, filtering, and synthesizing information to apply core academic skills to real-world applications.
  • Artistic Development: CACS graduates understand the arts as rigorous disciplines essential to the human experience. They take joy in self-expression and use creativity to enrich their academic learning and deepen their cultural awareness.
  • Social Development: CACS graduates are responsible, self-directed individuals with strong communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills based on respect for diverse perspectives.
  • Self-Awareness: CACS graduates possess a strong sense of self-reliance and confidence to learn from their mistakes and acknowledge areas for personal improvement.
  • Community Awareness: CACS graduates view diversity, tolerance, and compassion as guiding principles. They invest in their community, take responsibility for its well-being, and participate in change for the greater good.
  • Social Justice: CACS graduates have a deep awareness of prejudice, fairness, and otherness. They have developed tools to turn empathy into action, serve as allies to their peers, and advocate for their rights and the rights of others.
