Wellness Center

At Creative Arts Charter School, we believe that the emotional and social well-being of our students is just as important as their academic success. Our dedicated Wellness Team, consisting of a skilled social worker and a compassionate school counselor, is at the heart of this belief. They work collaboratively to ensure that every student has the support they need to thrive in all aspects of their lives.

Our Focus Areas

  • Individual Student Wellness Checks: We conduct regular wellness assessments to ensure each student's emotional and social needs are being met.
  • Individual and Group Therapy: Tailored therapeutic sessions are available for students who need additional emotional support, either one-on-one or in small groups.
  • Teacher Consultation: We partner with teachers to provide guidance on how best to support students' emotional and social needs in the classroom.
  • Parent and Family Consultation: Our team is available to meet with families to discuss concerns and offer strategies to support their children at home.
  • Professional Development for Staff: We equip our educators with the tools and knowledge they need to foster a supportive and emotionally healthy classroom environment.
  • Social and Emotional Classroom Learning: Throughout the year, our Wellness Team provides socio-emotional learning (SEL) lessons in all classrooms, helping students develop crucial life skills.
  • Community and Resource Referrals: We connect families with external resources and community programs to provide additional support when needed.

Our Approach to Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL)

Our socio-emotional learning curriculum is more than just a program; it's an integral part of our school culture. Each lesson is infused with creative opportunities to explore and understand key themes that are essential for personal growth and healthy relationships.

Topics covered in our SEL lessons include:

  • Emotional Literacy: Helping students recognize, understand, and express their emotions in healthy ways.
  • Relationships: Guiding students in building and maintaining positive and respectful relationships with peers and adults.
  • Communication: Teaching effective communication skills, including active listening, assertiveness, and conflict resolution.
  • Interpersonal Skills Development: Fostering the development of social skills that are essential for collaboration and community-building.
  • Management of Big Feelings: Supporting students in managing emotions like anger, worry, and sadness, and developing coping strategies.
  • Self-Awareness, Self-Worth, and Self-Esteem: Encouraging students to build a strong sense of identity, self-respect, and confidence.

At Creative Arts, we are committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment where every student feels seen, heard, and supported. Our Wellness Team is here to ensure that each child has the tools they need to navigate the challenges of growing up with resilience and strength.
