Have you ever smelled chocolate mousse with lime? Tasted a tender artichoke? Puckered your lips at the flavor of mango candy? Our 2nd, 6th, and 8th graders sampled these treats and more, as they learned about healthy eating habits and the science of flavors from professional chefs as part of the Chefs in Schools Program. Students discussed issues around using organic and local ingredients, watched demonstrations of cooking techniques, and sampled some new and exciting flavors to startle their taste buds, as they made connections between science, economics, and the joy of food.
